If you want to enjoy the great outdoors, you'll need to be prepared to deal with mosquitoes at some point. There are over 150 species of mosquitoes in the United States. They emerge and grow rapidly. It's common knowledge that mosquitoes need water and high levels of moisture to sustain themselves. Mosquito control is easier if you are able to determine where they are living or breeding. Inspect around your home and locate where the mosquitoes are gathering. Larvacides are effective products that kill the larva of mosquitoes as they develop. They are usually applied to the water where the mosquitoes are breeding. We offer Mosquito Dunks, which look like small donuts and are dropped into the water where mosquitoes are reproducing. The dunks will slowly melt away releasing thousands of bacteria which will kill mosquito larva. By killing the larva, the mosquito's lifecycle will stop. This has long been the approach people have used when controlling mosquito populations. The dunks are so safe they can be used in small ponds, bird baths, and water holding tanks without being a hazard to pets, wildlife, or people. They can also be used in small retention ponds, catch basins, and drainage ditches. Because the bacteria in these dunks are simply digested by mammals (which includes pets, people, and wildlife), so there is no hazard to this product being used in water used for drinking. Adult mosquitoes can also be controlled by diluting and spraying Permethrin 10% through a Hose End Sprayer to spray the shrubs and low hanging tree limbs outside where mosquitoes gather. Another method of adult mosquito control is to directly kill them as they fly around. You can spray small areas with a can of Pyrethrin Aerosol. This product uses pyrethrin as the active ingredient and will kill mosquitoes quickly. Spray it around decks and picnic areas to provide yourself with a few hours of relief. When spraying pyrethrin indoors, leave the house for about 15 minutes until it has settled. |
